It’s a bright new year, and I don’t know about you, but we are grateful for the fresh start. With a lingering Covid and world-wide troubles tainting the last few years, we have high hopes that 2023 is going to be much more positive – we’re filled with hope, at the very least.
With a new year comes new emerging beauty trends – some that we love, some that we’re happy to have back around no matter how fleetingly, and some that probably won’t make it past the first quarter. But that’s the fun in makeup; it’s about exploration. And what better than a fresh year to try something new?
Vampy Glam
A look that we love, embracing deeper, plum toned shades that add interest and surprise to an outfit. You can choose how far you take this – a slightly darker red or deep nude with blue tones is a subtle way to dip your toe into this trend or go all out with a dark burgundy or maroon for something a bit more vampy and striking.

Blush Draping
We saw a lot of this trend last year, and we’re glad it’s making a comeback. Taking colour from the cheeks right up to the temples, or more subtly swept from the highs of the cheeks right across the bridge of the nose. Either way, expand your placement for a pretty flush. We love to use our lipstick (or try our pigmented Gloss Lip for added sheen) dabbed across and melted into the skin with fingers to tie into the rest of your makeup look.

O.T.T. Lips
Ok, so we’re obviously big fans. Lips that are bold, that are full and that are bursting with colour = *chefs kiss*. We love the vinyl look – super glossy and highly pigmented colour. Perhaps not the most wearable for day-to-day, but the perfect accessory to an evening outfit – especially to add interest to a LBD. We’ll be trying this out with rich nudes and reds, in a matte and gloss finish!

Next Day Makeup
This look is all about that lived in makeup. Perhaps you had a wild night, perhaps sleep seemed so desirable you couldn’t bear to take your makeup off first. Not that we promote sleeping in your makeup (we really don’t) but, if you were to, you might find yourself accidentally on trend. We like to press lipstick into the lips to create a not-so-perfect pout that replicates that kissed the night away lip. Think 90s grunge and you’ll be on the right track.
