Q: When did you begin your career in the beauty industry?

I first started my career in the industry when I was 18. I began on a makeup counter in boots. After working for around 2 years in retail I decided to go out on my own.

Q: When did you first discover makeup?

I discovered makeup for the first time when I was about 8. My mother was a makeup artist when she was younger and she always had the most amazing makeup collection.

Q: At what point did you realise makeup was something you had a talent for?

Great question! From the age of 14/15 I was always offering to do my friends’ makeup on nights out and it was then that I realised I had a much better eye for makeup than my friends and that this is something I loved doing.

Q: What work are you most proud of?

Firstly, I would say I am most proud of doing the Patrick Ta campaign. I’ve always looked up to him as a makeup artist and was totally honoured to be asked to do it. Secondly, my best friends wedding! I was so happy and excited to do it and she honestly looked flawless.

Q: What products will forever be in your kit?

Cream blushers will always be in my kit. They are super versatile and are always a winner with clients. You can obviously use them on the cheeks but also as eyeshadows and lip colours.

Q: What beauty trends do you hope to see return this year?

Graphic 60s liner and lashes. Twiggy did it best it and it was an ultimate hit!

Q: Which trends do you hope to never see again?

Baking! No one needs that much powder to set their face and no one needs to wear that much makeup.

Q: What advice would you give someone starting out in the industry?

NEVER GIVE UP! Being a makeup artist doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a tough and competitive industry out there, but know your audience and be consistent and you’ll make it. Even if it does take 20 years!

Q: Finally, what is your favourite Emolyne product?

Defining Lip. Lip pencils are one of my favourite products and I couldn’t live without them. These really last and they come in the most divine shades. A MUST for any makeup artist!
