It’s prime time to get away – summer is officially here. With fabulous sunny weather in the UK over the past few weeks, we’ve exhausted picnics, beer gardens and overpopulated local beaches. Wimbledon has come to an end, along with other key summer events, which gives us the opportunity to finally escape the big smoke and treat ourselves to some R & R.
No matter where you’re off to – a city break, beachy oasis or simply a country retreat – we have a shade for that!
City Break
Museums, alfresco lunches, rooftop bars, sightseeing: city breaks require the most hard-working wardrobe, and with limited luggage, this can be quite the feat. We’re all for capsule wardrobes and getting as much out of each piece as possible – try adding an oversized blazer, a chunky earring, and a pair of heeled sandals to take your outfit from casual daytime to evening chic.
Pack a lipstick that is going to pull its weight, too: a classic red that can be dabbed onto the lips for a kiss of colour in the day and tapped onto the cheeks and applied straight from the bullet for evenings to glam up any outfit in an instant.
Beach Retreat
We’re all dreaming of a beach getaway to relax and recuperate, perhaps finally getting round to the magazines that have been stacking up each month, that we had every intention of reading. There’s nothing better than soaking up the sun with the knowledge of a cool respite, crashing into the shore, just meters from our feet.
And while we all plan to look effortlessly glam and fresh faced with perfectly wavy hair, we definitely love a pinch of colour to help us get there. A pinky nude can be your multitasking savour – pat a small amount across the bridge of your nose and onto the cheeks to faux that sunkissed look, and dab some more, using your fingers, across the lips for a diffused, natural, beach goddess look.
Country Getaway
Treating yourself to a weekend in the countryside can be so beneficial for your mind. An exciting trip without the stress of airports, queues and most recently, constant cancellations! With the current heat waves across the UK, local hot spots could absolutely be mistaken for the Med so don’t bother packing your wellies and raincoat and be sure to bring your SPF!
The beauty of staying in good ol’ Britain is that you don’t have to limit yourself to hand luggage – that’s doesn’t mean packing 4 pairs of heels for a weekend in the Peak District, or your whole makeup kit for a few nights by the coast – but you do have the luxury of taking a couple of lip shades. Think something versatile, a peach-toned nude that will look good no matter what you get up to in the day, and something bold and a bit more fun for alfresco dinners.
