Perfect Party Looks

Christmas is approaching and we’re already thinking about the perfect makeup look for this festive season. While COVID19 may have changed how we’re celebrating this year, we know that whatever we do we’ll be ready to add a touch of glam to proceedings.

So, let’s look at the latest festive makeup trends and find out how to add your own personal spin on Christmas 2020.

Festive Red Lips

Red lipstick has always been a makeup classic during Christmas, and nothing makes you feel as effortlessly put together as a polished red lip. We’re always a fan of a statement lip no matter what the occasion, but there is something extra glam about a flawless red pout during the festive season.

Put your own stamp on this Christmas classic by opting for a red lip shade that screams you – whether that’s the timeless classic red of Cape Town, or the indulgent warm wine red of Cote D’Ivoire, you’ll be able to pair these shades with a little black dress for a girls night out, or something a little more comfortable for a fun night in with a glass of wine.

Ombre Lips

Ombre lips are a trend we’re in love with. With a beautiful colour graduation, ombre can give you the illusion of fuller lips and add something a little special to your Christmas party makeup.

Another reason to love this cult lip trend is that it gives you the chance to use more than one shade of your favourite lipstick. You’ll need to pick two different shades of red lipstick and complete it with a lip definer to produce a well-defined pout.

Start with a lipliner that’s slightly darker than your natural lip colour and outline your lips – this is an opportunity to overline if you want to create fuller lips, though this look is all about experimenting and making a statement so just go with what feels most like you.

Apply your lighter shade of lipstick first with a brush to the inner part of your lips and blend it out, using a lighter hand as you get to the centre of your pout.  Avoid the edges as this is where you’ll apply your darker shade to create the gorgeous ombre effect.

For a beautiful subtle ombre we recommend using the velvety deep blue-red Abuja shade and pairing it with a lighter true red such as Libreville.  If you want a darker look, opt for warm wine red, Cote D’Ivoire and the muted brick red Alexandria as a pairing.

To dazzle with a more contrasted ombre lip, pair that same Abuja shade with stunning maroon red, Lagos or the Cote D’Ivoire shade with Abuja for an eye-catching ombre.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different lipstick shades  – this is all about making a statement.

Vampy Beauty

The autumn/winter catwalks this year were full of gothic influences and we’re in love with the way these darker shades look. Embrace your vampy side with our intense, full-coverage berry plum red lipstick shade, Nigeria, adding sculpted, contoured cheeks for a deeply vampy look.

No gothic queen would be complete without a pair of matching nails, so complete this look with our ultra-glossy gel lacquer nail varnish in the matching shade and prepare to stride into the New Year with confidence.

Whether it’s a Girls Night In or a Girls Night Out it’s always Your Shade Your Rules.
